Here is a confession for you: I HATE washing dishes. Loathe. Detest. Yuck. In fact, I practically refuse to wash dishes by hand. I make a point of double checking any new dishware or cooking utensil before I purchase it to ensure it is dishwasher safe. Everything gets loaded into the dishwasher and washed. Part of the reason is because I just get grossed out washing dishes, the other part is I honestly feel like things that have gone through the sanitizing rinse in my dishwasher are just cleaner.
One battle that Nick and I have always had since Day 1 is over my refusal to wash dishes. He has always felt like I needed to wash the dishes in the sink before I put them into the dishwasher, and then let the dishwasher sanitize them. That seems like a waste of time, energy, soap, and water to me. We have now compromised and agreed that the person who does the dishes does them their own way. Since that’s me 99.9% of the time, they go straight into the dishwasher. This has really only been a major battle when I used a detergent that wasn’t great. The dishes wouldn’t always come out crystal clean and clear, and would need a second wash. I can agree, that was a bigger waste of energy, electricity, soap, and water. However, once Cascade came out with their Cascade Complete Gel Packs with Dawn and the package clearly states, “No Pre-Rinse Required”, that was my Golden Ticket back to Bliss where dishes are concerned. No more washing by hand, then dishwasher cleaning after. I can just load the dishes in after dinner, and feel confident that they’ll be clean when I unload the machine the next day.
I also want to mention that Cascade Complete comes in powder form, liquid form, and actionpacs. It’s really just a personal preference what type you use. I have used all three forms over the years, depending on what the store had in stock. I have really become a huge fan of pods/actionpacs recently because they require no measuring. I always have a full load, so I use the same amount. Now that the kids are getting old enough to do chores and help around the house, they are easy for them to use and I don’t have to worry about finding a room full of suds.
