This has been a rough year. We had Aaron decide he was ready to go back to school (he’s been homeschooled for several years and has special needs), we’ve moved across the country, the kids started a new school, found new doctors, and I’ve been battling this lymph node junk for a while. This mama needs a serious vacation!
Now that we live in New England, I have been making plans to visit many of the historic sites around here, but those will be mini vacations with the family. What I need right now to help me find relaxation and regroup is a dream vacation. If I could travel anywhere I wanted, I would choose to go to Rome. We have a family history in Italy with relatives still living just outside of Rome. I can’t imagine how amazing it would be to see the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Arch of Constantine in person!
Since this is my dream vacation, and money is no object, I would plan to stay at the Rome Cavalieri, which is part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection. In reality, if I were able to travel to Rome, I’d probably stay at the Franklin Hotel. It is a nice quality, close to all of the destinations I want to visit, and reasonably priced. Since we have an Italian history, I do cook quite a few Italian dishes. It would be important to me to stay at an affordable hotel and splurge on dining out at places such as Trattoria Cacio E Pepe, Trattoria Monti, Pizzeria la Montecarlo and of course Giolitti for some authentic Gelato! It would be essential to have a notebook with me for taking notes to try and recreate their renown dishes at home.
How do I know exactly what I’d want to do, places I’d want to visit, and the exact restaurants and hotels I’d want to stay at? I would LOVE to visit Florence. I’ve done lots of dreaming-planning, just like you, and I imagine my family could fly in to either Rome or Milan and take the train to Florence. I’d like to rent an apartment for a week or 10 days (seems the most frugal choice for our family, and it gives you a certain autonomy to have an apartment rather than just one or two hotel rooms). We could also rent a car so we could take trips to the countryside and maybe even visit Venice. Of course the majority of our stay, I’d love to just walk around Florence, take in the incredible art, and linger in the restaurants and coffeeshops. Maybe one day you’ll see Rome and I’ll see Florence!
Australia is a place I would like to go to
A Sandals resort in Jamaica would be a nice place to go.

I dream of the spas and casinos of Baden Baden, A foodie tour of Paris, A river boat wine tour of the Rhine, My guy, wants to go panning for gold in death valley, A Jack London tour of Alaska, and mining for opals in the deserts of Australia, So as it is we compromise and watch the travel channel.

my realistic vacation would be to visit my sisters in north carolina and my brother in alabama. i have always wanted to go to london and japan though.
I always wanted to go to Hawaii but now since Im older maybe Italy or France.
Unrealistically I would love to visit every country/state/province/continent this world has to offer. But to be realistic, if I could only choose one, it would be between Ireland and Italy.
I have always dreamed of going to Tahiti and staying in one of the over the water bungalows. I would probably die if I ever actually got to go!
Rome is one of my top places to travel too. Everything about it screams amazing! The sites alone are breathtaking. I hope you get to go one day! If you do bring me with hehe
