Well, after a Christmas Break full of the flu, we actually had a fever free Winter Break this past week! The only excitement was my allergy shots, which, if you’ve seen on my Facebook, have been out of control. Apparently my allergies are so bad, I am allergic to Allergy Shots. The past 2 weeks I’ve had epi pen shots, prednisone shots AND pills, Claritin, and Benadryl, all flowing freely. If I wasn’t having so many issues with my lips swelling, causing ER Trips, I don’t know that this would be worth it, but, we will perservere!

So, back to Winter Break. This is a new experience for us, in the South, we’ve never had a Winter Break before, just Christmas and Spring. The kids were thrilled, and they’ve had a blast. Well, except for the part where I made them clean out their closets and try on every.single.item.of.clothing. they each own. It’s a Bi-Annual Tradition around here, we pass down things that are too small from child to child, and then I have a giant bag of things too small for the youngest that goes to a family friend, who has THE most adorable child, she is a hoot!

Other than that, we have played in the snow – yes, we still have a ton, played board games, baked cookies and a cake, read books, played video games, watched tons of Movies, and today they are getting laptop time. We went to Dinner Tuesday night, a local restaurant, T-Bones offered Kids Eat Free all week, and they got to see some school friends there, they got Happy Meals from McDonalds yesterday as a reward for good behavior at my allergy appointment, then we ordered Pizza for dinner, because Mom was a bit strung out on allergy meds – post shot reaction, which was a very different reaction than I’ve ever had. I may or may not have had a text conversation with one of my closest friends last night involving Magic Fingers that feel like a Princess Wand, Vanilla Ice (FREEZING COLD), Alicia Keys (This Girl is on FIRE), someone who named their child Nasteho (True Story as witnessed by a pharmacy tech friend), and Tom Cruise – before he lost his marbles, and said friend thought I might be on the Stairway to Heaven! Alas, I survived the night and feel much better today!

However, that’s not to say that we aren’t all itching with Spring Fever, and ready for some of this snow to melt so we don’t freeze when we’re outdoors, and we’d like to explore some local sights. If I could go anywhere right now – it would be a beach in the tropics. Mama needs a relaxing, tropical paradise for about a week to rejuvenate!

What are some ways that your family is fighting the Spring Fever Itch?

great pics! I can imagine what a shock the snow and allergies must be!
Despite your monster allergies, I’d day you got plenty done to combat cabin fever. Cleaning is always a good way to start for me. I wouldn’t mind those brightly colored sweet treats either!
Those cookies look festive – love the colours! The flowers in your window make waiting for spring to come a little easier.
